Regulations-2010

Application Form 2010

Dear friends,

On November 1-5, 2010 the St.-Petersburg Dom Kino Film Center (12, Karavannaya St.) will host the 5th International popular science and educational film festival “World of Knowledge”. Our festival seeks to promote the tradition of international dialogue between scientists and filmmakers in order to solve the urgent issues of developing modern science, culture, and new technologies. In order to maintain the intellectual level and the creativity of the nation.

The open competition program will include non-fiction popular science and educational films, made by Russian film studios as well as those from CIS and non-CIS countries.

Apart from the main competition program, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Victory in WWII, non-fiction films about WWII made both in Russia and abroad will be screened at the festival. By means of cinematography we suggest uniting our memories of those who rose against the German Nazism, the most dreadful and horrible page in the 20th century history. We would like to speak to the young generation and to show them ruined towns and villages being restored after the war, those who survived coming back to their mothers and fathers, to their wives and children. To show the loving hearts reuniting, peaceful post-war life starting.

     We invite you:
      - to participate in the competitive selections by submitting your film (made in 2008-2010) for the main competition program. (See reglament.doc)
      - to participate in the screening of non-fiction films about WWII.

During the festival a round table meeting of prominent scientists, filmmakers and public figures will take place in the White Hall of the Dom Kino.

The festival is organized by:
JSC Lennauchfilm (St.-Petersburg Science Films Studio),
National Committee “Intellectual resources of Russia”
with the participation of the Culture Ministry of the Russian Federation, St.-Petersburg Filmmakers’ Union, St.-Petersburg Culture Committee.
President of the Festival Sergey P. Kapitza, member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS)
